Voltage detector can monitor 12V/24V power lines to save space

The XC6138 series of voltage detectors have been designed by Torex Semiconductor with a separate power supply pin and voltage detection pin (sense pin).  The sense pin supports high withstand voltage 76V operation which allows direct monitoring of 12V/24V and similar power lines without using divided resistance.

Without the need to use conventional low withstand voltage products, the XC6138 contributed to higher accuracy, lower power consumption, reduced use of space, and better reliability, claimed Torex.

Typically, general voltage detectors only allow the detection voltage to be freely set  with the release voltage being set in advance by the hysteresis width (approximately detection voltage multiplied by five per cent). The XC6138, however, allows the user to set both the detection voltage and the release voltage. This capability makes it possible to support a variety of voltage lines (for example, when an unstable power supply causes high impedance in the power line and significantly disturbs the input and when there is a significant voltage fluctuation such as in motor loads).

The delay time can be externally adjusted using an external capacitor making it possible to select the detection/release delay time ratio. A manual reset function is also provided making possible forced reset by dropping the Cd/MRB pin to the VSS level.

The voltage detector is available in the universal SOT-25 (2.8 x 2.9 x 1.3mm) package that is mainly used for industrial applications. It is also offered in the space-saving DFN1515-6A (1.5 x 1.5 x 0.38mm) package for use where circuit board mounting space is limited.

Torex Semiconductor provides CMOS power management ICs targeted at battery powered and energy efficient applications. Torex specialises in CMOS analogue technology, with LDO voltage regulators, voltage detectors and DC/DC converters as the company’s core product offering.
