Wildstar 3XR0 Ethernet FPGA board enables 18GHz signals
Equipped with two Gen 3 RFSoCs, the Wildstar 3XR0 is believed to the be the first SOSA-aligned 100Gbit Ethernet FPGA board to combine processing and ADC, DAC power of two Gen 3 Xilinx UltraScale RFSoC FPGAs. Annapolis Micro Systems adds that it enables 18+GHz digitisation.
The Wildstar 3XR0 3U OpenVPX FPGA processor incorporates a full-length, coax-connected analogue interface mezzanine site which can be populated with a direct RF digitisation mezzanine, or a third party analogue superheterodyne tuner to allow for digitisation of 18+GHz signals.
An integrated tuner delivers much lower SWaP-C than a separate standalone tuner, explains Annapolis Micro Systems, while maintaining the ability to upgrade the tuner and digitiser/processor separately.
Noah Donaldson, Annapolis Micro Systems chief technology officer, commented: “We don’t know of anyone else who is combining this much tuning, digitising, and processing capability in a single one inch VITA 48.1 slot”.
In addition the two Gen 3 RFSoC FPGAs (XCZU43DR), an on-board Xilinx MPSoC (XCZU5EV) provides high performing, yet low power self-hosting using power-efficient Arm cores.
The rugged Wildstar 3XR0 board supports wide temperature ranges, from -55 to +85 degrees C, via air, conduction or air-flow-through cooling. Storage temperatures range from -65 to 105 degrees C.
For maximum flexibility, the Wildstar 3XR0 supports the Sensor Open System Architecture (SOSA) and/or VITA 65 backplane slot profiles. It also offers optional VITA 67 backplane RF connectivity.
Annapolis Micro Systems offers a range of Wild100 100GbE products (baseboards, storage, switch, seven- and 13-slot chassis, and six or 13-slote backplanes) that are SOSA-aligned. The company’s 3U OpenVPX products are optimised to operate in any 3U VPX Wild100 system, or can be readily integrated into a third party SOSA-aligned 3U VPX system.
The 6U OpenVPX baseboards, storage, switch and 16-slot chassis products are optimised to operate in any 6U VPX Wild100 system or can be integrated into a third party SOSA-aligned 6U VPX system.
Board support packages include 40/100GbE IP and both VxWorks 7 and Linux support.
Annapolis high-performance products are designed for advanced high performance computing, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) and multi-function electronic warfare (EW) applications, including phased array radar, cyber security network processing, digital radio frequency memory (DRFM), beamforming, sensor processing, wireless communication, and radar signal processing.
