500W LDMOS transistor enables 75 per cent efficiency
Claimed to be the industry’s best 500W LDMOS-based power amplifier transistor operating in the 433MHz band, the BLP05H9S500P is designed by Ampleon for use in medical applications, plasma lighting, industrial heating and defrosting.
The BLP05H9S500P operates between 423 to 443MHz and delivers up to 500W output power in pulsed or continuous wave modes. It enables drain efficiency levels of typically 75 per cent, adds Ampleon. These are claimed to be best in class characteristics and ones which will keep the required cooling capacity to a minimum as well as save both space and operation costs.
The lightweight push-pull transistor amplifier has been specifically designed to withstand a voltage standing wave ration (VSWR) of 10:1 at 50V through all phases with no damage or degradation. This simplifies system design and protection circuitry, notes Ampleon.
The BLP05H9S500P is based on Ampleon’s ninth generation high voltage LDMOS process technology and comes in a low thermal resistance OMP780 package. It is currently in production with a minimum longevity commitment of 15 years.
