6W high isolation DC/DC converters meet medical, industrial and ICT needs
High isolation, 6W DC/DC converters for medical, industrial and ICT applications make up the MH6 series by Cosel. They are packaged in a single in line package and have a reiinforce isolation of 3kV AC, 4.2kVDC. They comply with the medical isolation standard (two means of operation protection (MOOP) with a 250V AC working voltage.
There are three input voltages options (4.5 to 18V, 9.0 to 36V and 18 to 76V). They are also available as single output (MHFS6) and dual output (MHFW6) models.
All modules in the MH6 range have low insulation capacitance of 20pF max to reduce noise transfer.
Reinforced insulation sustains 3kV AC and 4.2kV AC isolation tests in accordance to safety standards, reported Cosel. The MH6’s transformer is designed to sustain differential voltage that might occur in industrial applications.
The MH6 series is available in five single output 3.3, 5.0, 9.0, 12 and 15V (MHFS6) and two dual outputs ±12V and ±15V (MHFW6). Output can be used in series, delivering 24 or 30V. Single output voltage MHFS6 can be adjusted by using the Vout Trim pin on the secondary side.
The MH6 series has built-in overcurrent protection circuit, with automatic recovery. A remote control pin operating as negative logic (L:ON, H:OFF) is available on standard.
Operating temperature range is -40 to +85 degrees C ambient, with 20 to 95 per cent RH (non-condensing). Depending on cooling, a power derating may apply to not exceed +105 degrees C at a specified measuring point.
Industrial and in some case medical equipment can be subject to vibrations engendering possible damages on the pins of SIP products. The MH6 DC/DC converters’ pins are moulded in an epoxy holder, strengthening the connections between the application PCB and the module, Cosel explained. The series has been qualified on vibrations testing: 10 to 55Hz 98.0m/s2 (10G), three minute period, 60 minutes each along X, Y and Z axes and shock: 490.3m/s2 (50G) 11ms, once each along X, Y and Z axes.
Agency approvals include UL62368-1, EN62368-1, c-UL (equivalent to CAN/CSA-C22.2 No.62368-1), ANSI/AAMI ES60601-1, EN60601-1 3rd and c-UL (equivalent to CAN/CSA-C22.2 No.60601-1).
To reduce user’s board space, the MH6 series is housed in a SIP8 packaging measuring 26.0 x 12.0 x 9.5mm or 1.03 x 0.48 x 0.38-inches. Weight is 8g maximum.
The power supply complies with the RoHS directive and is CE marked in accordance with the Low Voltage Directive.
The Cosel MH series is manufactured in Japan and carries a five-year warranty.
