Selected oscilliscopes use Bode plots for analyzing frequency response

Analysis of the frequency response of a device, using Bode plots, is available now for selected Rohde & Schwarz oscilloscopes. A new software option allows users to analyse the response to frequency changes from 10Hz up to 25MHz without any additional piece of equipment. This can also be achieved at a fraction of the price of dedicated solutions, claims Rohde & Schwarz.

Rohde & Schwarz has extended the application range of its R&S RTB2000, R&S RTM3000 and R&S RTA4000 oscilloscopes with a new option for frequency response analysis. Equipped with the R&S RTx-K36, the oscilloscopes can display Bode plots for both phase and gain against frequency simultaneously. According to the company, performing control loop response and power supply rejection ratio (PSRR) measurements, or for the characterisation of passive components, vector network analyser-based methods often do not cover frequencies under 9kHz, or are simply too costly for smaller budgets. When using an R&S RTB2000 entry-level oscilloscope, it is possible to make frequency response measurements from 10Hz at almost half the price previously offered on the market, reports Rohde & Schwarz.

In addition to conventional time domain measurements available with oscilloscopes, and the wide range of general-purpose measurements supported, this Bode plot application allows the R&S RTB2000, R&S RTM3000, and R&S RTA4000 to also perform gain and phase frequency response analysis. All three oscilloscope families are supplied equipped with 10-bit ADCs that are not available on other oscilloscopes in their class, for vertical dynamic range.

The R&S RTx-K36 frequency response analysis (Bode plot) is now available from Rohde & Schwarz and selected distribution channel partners.
