TDK designs capacitors in hybrid polymer technology

Hybrid polymer aluminium electrolytic capacitors from TDK have been extended with a new SMD series. The components are now available in 25V DC / 330 microF and 35V DC / 270 microF versions. Each measure 10 x 10.2mm. The capacitors are RoHS-compatible and qualified to AEC-Q200. They are designed for a maximum operating temperature of 125 degrees C and offer a long service life of at least 4,000 hours.

The hybrid polymer technology yields a low ESR value of up to 20 mOhm and high ripple current capability of 2.8A at 125 degrees C and 100kHz, says TDK.

In addition to automotive electronic control units (ECUs), the B40900B5337M000 (330 microF) and B40900B7277M000 (270 microF) models can also be used in industrial applications.

The SMD series supplements the world’s first axial hybrid polymer aluminium electrolytic capacitors, says TDK. These capacitors measure between 14 x 25mm and 16 x 30mm and are designed for rated voltages of 25, 35 or 63V and offer capacitance values from 390 to 2100 microF.

TDK was established in 1935 to commercialise ferrite, a key material in electronic and magnetic products. The company’s portfolio features passive components such as ceramic, aluminium electrolytic and film capacitors, as well as magnetics, high-frequency, and piezo and protection devices. The product spectrum also includes sensors and sensor systems such as temperature and pressure, magnetic, and MEMS sensors. TDK also provides power supplies and energy devices and magnetic heads. The company’s product brands are TDK, EPCOS, InvenSense, Micronas, Tronics and TDK-Lambda. TDK focuses on demanding markets in the areas of information and communication technology and automotive, industrial and consumer electronics. The company has a network of design and manufacturing locations and sales offices in Asia, Europe, and in North and South America.
