Mouser offers Laird Connectivity’s modules for long range Bluetooth

Offering support for long range Bluetooth low energy applications in harsh environments, Laird Connectivity’s BL653 series modules are available from Mouser.

The BL653 series of modules have a range of configurable interfaces as well as an extended industrial temperature rating. They provide Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity and support near field communication (NFC) and 802.15.4 communication (Thread and Zigbee) for IoT applications in industrial settings and other harsh environments.

The Laird Connectivity BL653 series modules deliver long range, multi-wireless capabilities and operate over an extended temperature range of up to 105 degrees C. The modules are powered by Nordic Semiconductor’s nRF52833 SoC which has  a 64MHz Arm Cortex-M4 with floating point unit, high output power of up to +8dBm, and sensitivity of -95dBm in 1Mbits per second.

The modules offer Bluetooth 5.1 features such as direction finding with angle of arrival (AoA) and angle of departure (AoD), as well as long-range (Coded PHY) and 2M PHY support for data rates of 2Mbits per second, 1Mbits per second and 125kbits per second.

The 15 x 10 x 2.2mm modules can operate with Laird Connectivity’s smartBasic, simple AT command set, Nordic software development kit (SDK) or Zephyr real time operating system (RTOS), according to the requirements and preferences of the designer. The modules also include integrated PCB trace antenna options or Trace Pad variants to connect a range of pre-certified internal and external antenna options.

The BL653 includes modular FCC, IC, CE, RCM, MIC, and Bluetooth SIG approvals for faster time to production.

A BL653 development kit is available, with either an internal antenna or a range of pre-certified external FlexPIFA antenna. The kit provides the necessary tools to begin Bluetooth low energy development, confirms Mouser.

Laird Connectivity simplifies the enablement of wireless technologies, providing wireless modules and antennae, integrated sensor and gateway platforms, and customer-specific wireless solutions.

Mouser claims to stock the world’s widest selection of the latest semiconductors and electronic components for the newest design projects. Its website is continually updated and also houses data sheets, supplier-specific reference designs, application notes, technical design information, and engineering tools.
