AC/DC power supplies’ design increases convection rating

High power density, convection-rated AC/DC power supplies in the NGB series offer customers increased reliability and eliminates acoustic noise, claims SL Power.

The power supplies are intended for applications such as medical, industrial, audio broadcast and LED lighting. The NGB series is available in multiple formats and power levels including 250, 425, 660 and 1200W and with a single output from 12 to 56V DC. The company has also announced that 150W and 800W models will be released soon.

The power supply series departs from the conventional approach of optimising a design to require forced air cooling with fans, instead offering customers optimising the convection rating performance to increase reliability and eliminate acoustic noise. SL Power’s design is based on a scalable design strategy with customisable options including enhanced digital monitoring and control, multi-output, cardiac float (cf), covers and fan covers.

Whether operating in a medical or industrial environment, the NGB series offers Class I and II inputs with high output stability across wide temperature range up to 50°C without derating, wide universal input voltage range from 80 to 264V AC and high convection power rating (derated at 90V AC input voltages). They also comply to Medical 4th edition and EMC Class B emission levels with margins, approved to CSA / EN / IEC UL62368, IEC61326-1/UL60601-1, 3rd edition. They carry a three year warranty.

The company believes that by designing the NGB series from the ground, it is able to meet the needs of today’s systems designers for high reliability and high output current stability over wide variations in operating temperature for reliable performance of mission critical systems in medical, audio and industry 4.0 applications.

The SL Power product portfolio is a selection of standard, modified and completely custom turnkey solutions. The company has more than 60 years’ of experience in the power industry and offers OEMs solutions that are optimised for thermal management, reliability, EMI / EMC, power density and power efficiency.

SL Power Electronics specifically target three primary market segments: medical, LED, and industrial.
