AC/DC power supplies from XP Power provide BF class insulation
Two ranges of AC/DC power supplies from XP Power provide body floating (BF) class insulation for healthcare applications.
The 500W PBR500 and 650W PBR650 series both accept a wide, universal input range of 80 to 264V AC at 47 to 63Hz. There are eight single output voltages: 12, 15, 18, 24, 28, 36, 48 and 57V.
Both series also offer efficiencies of 90 per cent, reducing the heat generated during operation and prolonging the lifetime, says XP Power.
The PBR500 is available in two versions. There is a U channel format which provides 350 to 400W when convection cooled and 450 to 500W with external forced air cooling. A covered version has a variable speed integral cooling fan for low audible noise to provide 450 to 500W.
The PBR650 provides 600 to 650W in an enclosed supply also with a variable speed integral fan with low audible noise.
The supplies have low earth and patient leakage currents and provide 2 x MOPP (means of patient protection) from input to output and 1 x MOPP from both input to ground and output to ground. Input to output isolation is rated at 4000V AC with input to ground and output to ground isolation rated at 1500V AC. Both conducted and radiated emissions are class B and both series comply with IEC/ES/EN 60601-1 edition 3.1 and 60601-1-2 edition 4
The PBR500 and PBR650 both have a 5V standby supply, overvoltage and overcurrent protection, remote sense and thermal shutdown. There is also an AC-ok signal and remote on/off control. The U channel version of the PBR500 also provides a 12V 0.3A output suitable for powering system cooling fans.
The PBR500 and PBR650 series are covered by a three-year warranty.
The two power supply series are are available from Digi-Key, element14, Farnell, RS Components, approved regional distributors, or direct from XP Power.
