AC/DC power supply simplifies installation in industry

High-power, density, high efficiency, resonant zero-voltage switching (ZVS) 5kW AC-/DC power supplies with ITE/industrial and medical agency approvals have been introduced by XP Power.

They feature a three-phase, three-wire, 180 to 528V AC input and simplify installation by virtue of not needing a neutral connection, which is often not available in industrial applications.

Digital control allows both the output voltage (0 to 105 per cent) and output current (0 to 110 per cent) to be set via both analogue and digital control interfaces. A graphical user interface (GUI) supports system development and defines user profiles to tailor the HPT5K0 as required, including signals and controls, without hardware changes.

This capability also allows the same base unit to be used across multiple applications.

The HPT5K0 series supports I²C, RS232 & RS485 serial buses with multiple digital protocols including PMBus, CANopen, MODBUS and SCPI.

The supplies are packaged in a compact chassis mount package, measuring 330.2 x 127.0 x 127.0mm. Efficiency is up to 94 per cent, enabling the supplies to occupy less space than similar products, says XP Power.

The supplies can be configured in series or in parallel with full current sharing to develop systems up to 25kW with output voltages 48 to 400V DC.

The HPT5K0 series can be used for industrial, technology, semiconductor fabrication and medical applications, including high power LED applications, such as UV curing and heating, burn in equipment, lasers, motor controllers, industrial printing (2D and 3D), electric vehicle charging, test equipment, battery simulation and medical imaging devices. The power supplies feature very fast output slew rates of less than 40 milliseconds, making them suited to challenging test applications. A thermally-controlled fan keeps the units cool with minimal audible noise.

The power supplies are designed and qualified for EMC immunity in harsh electrical environments and emissions are class B for conducted and class A for radiated.
