Adlink introduces I/O-rich fanless embedded computers

The MXE-1500 Series of fanless embedded computers is the successor to Adlink’s popular MXE-1300 series. The addition to the company’s portfolio offers richer I/O interfaces, and more flexible I/O configurations in the same compact enclosure, explains Adlink.

Intel’s last generation of CPU to support Windows 7, the Intel Celeron (codenamed Braswell) processors, power the MXE-1500 to a 90 per cent increase in image processing capabilities over the previous generation. They also support three independent displays, for what Adlink claims is “an unequalled price/performance ratio”. In addition, the graphic performance of quad core N3160 SoC processor has increased by 90 per cent compared to the previous generation Intel Atom E3845 processor and the computing power has increased by 20 per cent, reports Adlink.

The MXE-1500 can be used in industrial automation applications and for mass transit operators.

The use of the Intel Celeron N3160 and N3060 processors allows the MXE-1500 to power upgrades of existing control systems, while maintaining compatibility with existing software, benefiting a variety of operating environments, says Adlink.

For industrial applications with limited space that still demand rich I/O connectivity, the MXE-1500 Series’ compact footprint offers flexible configuration that dramatically simplifies deployment, adds the company. Standard interfaces include four COM ports, three LAN ports, six USB (two 3.0 and four 2.0), and one internal USB 2.0 dongle. Users can choose LVDS or DP ports, and expand up to six COM ports, select an optional amplifier, or add TPM2.0 according to specific requirements.

“Providing optional TPM 2.0, for example, handily satisfies the requirements of IoT-centric applications as well as banking industry and police and government installations with major data encryption priorities, while the optional LVDS display port answers the high-integration demands of industrial automation applications,” said Kerry Huang, product manager of Adlink Embedded Platform and Module business unit.

This flexibility is designed to serve the needs of diverse industrial applications such as factory, machine, and logistics automation, transport en route information systems, station gate controls and ticket vending machines.

The MXE-1500 can be quickly configured with isolated modular DC power supply to satisfy application requirements for maritime computers.
