Anglia signs deal with STMicroelectronics for AutoDevKit
Development boards from STMicroelectronics are available from Anglia to support the accelerated design of automotive systems and similar projects in robotics, automation and other industrial applications.
The AutoDevKit fast prototyping development ecosystem by STMicroelectronics is available from inventory at Anglia. The development toolset was initially developed to address the automotive and transportation market but its versatility means that it is being used in industrial equipment such as robotics and autonomous systems which require similar application and reliability demands.
AutoDevKit provides engineers with an easy method for quick evaluation and rapid prototyping, says Anglia, in an integrated environment. It provides the flexibility to mix and match components to create quick prototypes and supporting engine control unit (ECU) -like development, says Anglia. AutoDevKit functional boards cover a broad range of applications including LED lighting, power management, sensing, audio, connectivity and communications.
Andrew Pockson, Anglia’s divisional marketing manager, said: “STMicroelectronics has based AutoDevKit on five guiding principles: ease of prototyping, reuse of code and hardware, maximum design flexibility, reduction of time-to-market and simplify integration of multiple systems”. STMicroelectronics’ AutoDevKit ecosystem from Anglia offers an efficient toolset for creating working prototypes, replacing traditional artisan approaches and supporting standardisation and design reuse, he continued.
Once the preferred AutoDevKit components are chosen, users are guided to connect the boards, generate code, compile and download firmware, and then continue to prototype testing and debugging. A fundamental aspect of the AutoDevKit ecosystem is to offer easy-to-use application program interfaces (APIs) for communication and control for each of the functional boards supported, says Anglia. AutoDevKit is an Eclipse plugin running under SPC5Studio integrated development environment (IDE). It is supported by a free AutoDevKit library, a software environment that lets users select the microcontrollers and functional boards from STMicroelectronics wide automotive portfolio to easily prototype an automotive solution.
Anglia is a UK-based, independent authorised distributor of semiconductors, optoelectronics, interconnect, passive and electromechanical components. It is a signatory of the ADS SC21 programme, and holds AS9120, ISO9001 and ISO14001 accreditations.
Its experienced staff support OEM and EMS companies in every sector of electronics manufacturing. Anglia describes its suppliers as some of the world’s leading electronic component brands, complemented by many smaller companies with leadership in their chosen technologies.
Technical support spans a sampling service that delivers over £150,000 worth of free evaluation parts each year and expert technical advice from well-trained product specialists and face-to-face guidance from field applications engineers. Both commercially and technically, management of industry legislation and component obsolescence are recognised as areas of vital importance to customers.
