Automotive photocoupler offers 200V collector-emitter voltage

Suitable for hybrid and battery electric vehicles (HEVs and BEVs), the TLX9188 is and automotive-qualified photocoupler from Toshiba Electronics Europe. The 200V transistor output photocoupler can be used for isolated signal communication in automotive equipment.

It can be operated with a collector-emitter voltage (VCEO) of 200V (min) which is 2.5 times higher than the company’s TLX9185A. The new addition offers a current transfer ratio (IC/IF) of up to 600 per cent and an input-to-output isolation voltage of 3750V rms (min).

The ability to operate at high voltages makes the TLX9188 suitable for use in battery management systems in HEV / BEV where it can be used to monitor voltages, monitor for mechanical relays sticking and detect ground faults, for example.

The TLX9188 is housed in a small and thin four-pin SO6 package and measures just 3.7 x 7.0 x 2.1mm. It operates across a wide temperature range from -40 to +125 degrees C and is fully qualified according to AEC-Q101 for automotive applications.

Toshiba has started volume shipments of the TLX9188.
