Battery management systems from Analog Devices include ASIL-D functional safety

Adding to its battery management system portfolio, Analog Devices has announced that the range available now includes battery management system (BMS) products with ASIL-D functional safety and low power features to enable continuous battery monitoring. The company’s BMS platform supports all key battery chemistries, including zero-cobalt lithium iron phosphate, for mass market electric vehicles (EVs) and energy storage systems (ESS) used for reuse and recycling of battery packs.

The BMS products are optimised for six to18 cell modules and offer a range of features including low power continuous battery monitoring, functional safety, and what is claimed to be the world’s best accuracy guaranteed across the entire vehicle lifetime and device temperature range.

Supporting multiple battery cell configurations and low power features enable the  vehicle battery to be monitored continuously even when the vehicle is turned off to ensure safety under all conditions, says Analog Devices, while maximising vehicle range as vehicle power consumption must be managed not only during driving, but also when the vehicle is parked.

ASIL-D rating means the BMS meets the highest possible standards for road vehicle functional safety required by regulatory agencies across the world, says Analog Devices.

Analog Devices is a semiconductor technology company dedicated to solving the toughest engineering challenges with echnologies that sense, measure, power, connect and interpret.
