Binder adds flange and cable variations to rugged circular connector range

Flange and cable variants with built-in protective conduit adaptation have been announced by binder in an expansion of its Harsh Environment Connector (HEC) series 696 of industrial circular connectors.

The additions have an integrated sealing function for the protective conduit screw connection which allows cables and individual conductors routed in a suitable corrugated tube to be protected to IP67. Once locked on both the plug and the receptacle sides, the connector achieves the degree of protection IP69K, reports binder.

The HEC series 696 connectors can be used in all types of outdoor electronic systems, mobile factory technology as well as in markets such as agriculture and construction where the use of high-pressure cleaners is common. They can also be used in traffic guidance systems, process engineering systems, water treatment and recycling plants.

Depending on the version, series 696 power connectors with a fast-locking bayonet design are approved for a rated voltage of up to 600V and an operating current of 32A. Crimp contacts are used to ensure a secure, vibration-proof connection. The connectors are available in cable or flange versions with five, eight or 12 power or signal crimp contacts (i.e. four+PE o, four+three+PE or 12 contacts).

In addition to the connection cross section of 0.14 to 6mm2, binder offers a range of accessories. Individual conductor sealing sets and protective caps are supplemented by a new protective conduit screw connection that is also available for retrofit.

The HEC connectors were developed by binder using materials that resist UV light and corrosive salt spray and that allow more than 1000 mating cycles at temperatures from -40 to +100 degrees C. In addition, the HEC Series 696 connectors are approved by both the VDE and the UL.

binder is a family-owned company employing 1800 people worldwide. It operates in the field of industrial circular connectors, supplying a wide range of products for all types of industrial applications.
