Board-to-board connector suits powertrain
Board-to-board connectors from Hirose maintain performance in vibration environments, including onboard powertrain.
The FX26 board-to-board connector maintains high contact reliability even in temperatures ranging from -40 to +140 degrees and under the severe vibration of on-board powertrain, confirms Hirose.
The FX26 board-to-board floating connector will find applications in hybrid and electric vehicles where high heat and vibration are characteristics. The motors and inverters used in these vehicles are always subject to problems of heat generation and vibration. Their lifespans are also increasing beyond the typical 10 years and 100,000km, so automotive connectors must be rugged enough to withstand the high heat and vibration conditions of powertrains for long periods.
The floating structure solves the problem of contact failure caused by vibration, explains TT and the small, easy-to-assemble connector has been tested for thermal shock at -40 to +140 degrees C and 3000 cycles and has passed severe vibration conditions for equipment installed in the engine room, such as inside the inverter.
The 1.0mm pitch and low height saves space in limited areas.
The FX26 can meet the requirements of powertrain control systems for existing electric vehicles and hybrid vehicles.
Hirose Electric manufactures connectors for many industries including industrial, automotive, consumer, computer and telecommunications.
