COM Express Type 6 module balances performance with power
Powered by Intel’s 10th Generation Core i3 / i5 / i7 / i9 desktop processors and the Intel Q470E / W480E chipset, the PCOM-B655VGL is a COM Express Type 6 module optimised for computing performance and power consumption, says Portwell.
It has up to 10 cores / 20 threads with a low 35W thermal design power (TDP) in an LGA1200 socket. The basic form factor offers long life product support of 10+ years and can support multiple displays including DP, HDMI, LVDS and VGA. The module is suitable for a wide variety of applications such as industrial automation, communication, gaming, networking, IoT, medical equipment, transportation, smart retail and automated test equipment.
The PCOM-B655VGL COM Express Type 6 basic module has dimensions of just 125 x 95mm. Despite its size, it includes the latest 10th Generation Intel Core processors, which enable up to 31 per cent enhanced multi-tasking performance and up to 11 per cent better performance on single-thread compute-intensive applications compared to previous generations, says Portwell. There is also a dual channel DDR4 ECC / Non-ECC SO-DIMM 2933MHz up to 32Gbyte and support for three DDI (DP / HDMI), one VGA and one eDP (LVDS) ports. There are also four USB 3.2 Gen 2, eight USB 2.0; four SATA III, one PCIe x16 Gen 3, eight PCIe x1 Gen 3; two UART and one Gigabit Ethernet port. PCOM-B655VGL COM Express Type 6 modules has an operating temperature range of 0 to +60 degrees C and is equipped with TPM 2.0 and offers AT / ATX mode versions. Portwell also offers a minimum of 10 years’ product lifespan.
With these features, PCOM-B655VGL provides a quick update to the latest Intel microprocessor with accelerated graphic processing and overall power consumption, to accelerate time-to-market for OEM products, says the company.
