Compact 250W GaN FET AC/DC power adapter meets ITE 62368-1 standards

GaN FET technology is used in the Trumpower TTG250 power adapter series, which addresses the need for compact 250W solutions for IT equipment, says the company. Using GaN FET technology more than doubles the power density and also achieves 15 per cent weight savings when comparing to a traditional MOSFET based power supply, reported Trumpower. Average efficiency is 91 to 93 per cent. The 250W power adapter meets the latest global energy efficiency standards for external supplies by complying to DoE Level VI, while offering a low no-load power consumption of 0.21W maximum.

The power adapter is supplied in a compact enclosure, measuring 155 x 67 x 33mm (6.81 x 2.64 x 1.3 inch). It is equipped with either a class I IEC 320/C14 AC inlet or a class II IEC 320/C18 AC inlet. The adapters have a high power density of 10.7W/in3 and five standard single output voltages of 12, 19, 24, 48, and 56V DC. The standard output connector is a Molex Mini-Fit receptacle P/N 39-01-2060 with Molex terminal P/N 45750-3111. Additional connector and cable options are available on request.

The TTG250 power adapter series operates with a universal input range of 100 to 240V AC and supports operating altitudes up to 5,000 meters. Operating temperature is between -20 to +60 degrees C ambient, while derating linearly from 100 per cent load at +40 degrees C to 50 per cent load at +60 degrees C. The power supply series is equipped with standard over-current, over-voltage, and short circuit protection. The power adapters have a mean time between failure (MTBF) of 300,000 hours minimum at full load, 25 degrees C ambient, calculated per Telcordia SR-332.

The power supply also adheres to the latest IEC / EN / UL 62368-1:2014 ITE standards. The power adapter complies with EMC and immunity standards including EN55032, CISPR 32 / FCC,VCCI class B (conducted and radiated emissions), EN 61000-3-2, EN 61000-3-3, EN 61000-4-2, EN 61000-4-3, EN 61000-4-4, EN 61000-4-5, EN 61000-4-6, EN 61000-4-8, EN 61000-4-11. It also meets energy star 2.0, ErP stage 2, CoC tier 2, NRCan and GEMS level VI standards.
