Compact and rugged AC filter film capacitors extend MKP range
Rugged AC filter capacitors, the B32354S series have been added to TDK’s portfolio of metalised Epcos polypropylene (MKP) capacitors for filter applications.
They feature a four-pin design and a pitch of 52 to contribute to the compact dimensions. They are rated for V RMS of 275V AC or 350V AC and cover a capacitance range from 10 to 40 microF. The maximum operating temperature is 85 degrees C. The AC film capacitors have a high AC load capacity and optimised dielectric strength. They also have a high resistance to harsh operating conditions such as high humidity. The company has demonstrated reliability under challenging conditions with a THB test (Grade III Test B) according to IEC 60384-14:2013/AMD1:2016 applying maximum operating temperature and a relative humidity of 85 per cent at applied nominal voltage for 1,000 hours. Certified to IEC 61071, the capacitors offer a life of at least 100,000 hours and a very low failure rate of less than five FIT (failure in time). The integrated safety function enables the capacitors to meet the highest safety level (10,000 AFC). The capacitors are alsoUL 810-approved and carry the CE mark. The housing and potting material comply with UL 94 V-0.
Typical demanding filtering applications for the rugged film capacitors include output filtering of frequency converters for drives, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) and photovoltaic inverters.
