Compact DIN rail power supply consumes less than 1W in standby mode

Designed to free space for other DIN rail mount assemblies, the DRF960‑24‑1 AC/DC power supply is just 110mm wide.

TDK-Lambda adds that it is rated at 24V 40A (960W) with a 60A (1,440W) peak for four seconds.  Efficiency is 95 per cent, which means that “significantly less” internal heat is generated, says TDK-Lambda, resulting in cooler electrolytic capacitors.

Operating field life is calculated to be greater than 10 years at 75 per cent load, 40 degrees C ambient, and 230V AC input.  The power supply is suitable for industrial applications such as factory automation, process control and test and measurement equipment.

The 24V output is adjustable from 24 to 28V, using the front panel potentiometer or an external 5.0 to 6.0V DC source, to compensate for blocking diodes or FETs in redundant configurations.  Also provided as standard is a DC OK relay contact, rated at 30V 1A, and remote on/off functionality. The DRF960 power consumption is less than 1W to reduce energy consumption when the output is inhibited.  Up to five units can be connected together in parallel when set in droop mode current share.

The DRF960 is housed in a robust metal enclosure, measuring 123.4mm high, 139mm deep and just 110mm wide.  The power supply can operate from 180 to 264V AC, 47 to 63Hz input. Input to output isolation is 3,000V AC, input to ground 1,500V AC and output to ground 500V AC. The DRF960 is rated for operation in -25 to +70 degrees C ambient temperatures (and ‑40 degrees C cold start), derating linearly above 60 degrees C to 50 per cent load at 70 degrees C.

The unit is safety certified to IEC/EN/UL/CSA 60950-1, UL 508 and is CE marked for the Low Voltage, EMC and RoHS Directives.  The DRF960 meets EN 55032-B radiated and conducted emissions, and complies with the EN 61000-4 immunity standards.
