Components Bureau adds quarter brick DC/DC converter from Artesyn

For data centre and communications network equipment, the BDQ1300 Artesyn Embedded Power 1.3kW quarter brick has digital control.  It is now available from Components Bureau.

The BDQ1300 is designed to provide over 97 per cent efficiency and on-board 12V output with optional digital control. It can accept an input voltage range of 40 to around 60V, making it particularly suitable for data centre and communications network equipment.

“The BDQ1300 has been designed to primarily support two power conversion architectures”, commented Components Bureau’s technical marketing director, Andy Brown. It can be used for the conventional two-stage conversion architecture network, where the BDQ1300 only provides power to non-isolated, 12V input point-of-load converters (such as Artesyn’s LGA80D or LGA50D families) or the BDQ1300 can be used to support a hybrid conversion architecture where some of the application’s power is converted with 48V to low-voltage direct conversion products.

The four-pin (length 4.6mm) PMBus header provides standard PMBus control and is responsible for monitoring functions such as voltage, current monitoring, start-up, shut down control, protection feature warning, shut down limits, temperature monitoring and revision-control information. To achieve the maximum conversion performance with minimum control complexity the BDQ1300 is also available without the four pin PMBus connection.

Operating temperature range is -40 to around +85 degrees C with air cooling. There are also options for base plate cooling.

The quarter brick is EN/UL/IEC/CE/TUV safety approved and ROHS 3.0 (2011/65/EU) compliant.

Components Bureau was acquired by Display Technology, the UK subsidiary of Fortec Elektronik on 28th September 2018 and is now part of the Fortec Power Supplies group. Components Bureau offers AC/DC power supplies and DC/DC converters from leading brands.

The distributor is a dedicated specialist of power related components and converters which has an “extensive stock holding” available from its central Frankfurt hub and UK headquarters.
