Connectors with Snap-Cap join TTI’s line-up
Distributor TTI is now stocking Deutsch DT two- and three-position Snap-Cap connectors for purchase throughout Europe.
The two- and three-position Snap-Cap connectors are recent additions to the Deutsch DT connector line for use in harsh environments such as lorry and bus, construction and agricultural vehicles, as well as other markets where environmental protection is needed.
These sealed connectors are widely used to make wire-to-wire connections, to connect wires to integrated header modules on printed circuit boards and to provide low power and signal-level communications signals for sensors and actuators. The connectors work well in tough working conditions subject to high vibrations and extreme temperatures, says TTI.
The Snap-Cap variant adds cap plugs that have enhanced front-seal retention and a secondary wedge-lock design, which is said to improve the seal at the connector’s interface. The front seal of the plug can also be replaced in the field, a key advantage over moulded-in designs.
Other enhancements include improved wire alignment to maximise seal performance when wires experience a side load, the ability to configure the connector’s rear snap-in seal cover caps in standard or extended shrink-tube cap variants, and a choice of normal or thin wire-seal options to accommodate a range of wire insulation thicknesses. The connector’s housings can be specified in standard black and grey.
The Snap-Cap connectors use the ruggedized circular Deutsch pin and socket common contact system parts and so have an equivalent fit and function, although there are minor differences in the Snap-Cap connector’s form to accommodate the enhanced seal.
The parts have been validated to meet all the historical DT connector requirements, offering interface compatibility with all previous mating connectors and interfaces, while being suitable for future designs.
TTI offers passive, connector, electromechanical, discrete, power supplies and sensor components for industrial, automotive, transportation, defence, aerospace and consumer electronics manufacturers worldwide.
