Crystal oscillators are designed for automotive applications
A range of wide operating temperature crystal oscillators that are suitable for use in automotive applications has been introduced by Mercury Electronics (MEC) Europe.
The HY series of surface mount crystal oscillators offers 15pF load LVCMOS output at frequencies from 1.25 to 50.0MHz over a temperature range of -40 to +125 degrees C. There is a choice of frequency stability of ±50 and ±100 parts per million (ppm), adds MEC. Frequency stability of ±25ppm is also available over commercial (-10 to +70 degrees C) and industrial (-40 to +85 degrees C) temperature ranges. MEC Europe can also provide non-standard frequency stability specifications if required, e.g. ±20 or ±30ppm.
Phase noise characteristics are -155dBc/Hz at 10kHz and -160dBc/Hz at 100kHz offset. The HY oscillators are available in three package sizes 3.2 x 2.5 x1.0mm, 5.0 x 3.2 x 1.2mm and 7.0 x 5.0 x 1.4mm. Supply voltages are 1.8, 2.5 and 3.3V respectively. Typical current consumption is 2.0 to 4.0mA from 1.25 to 19.99MHz and 4.0 to 6.0mA from 20.0 to 50.0MHz depending on the package size.
RMS phase jitter is 150fs typical (12kHz to 20MHz integrated). Specifications include ageing of ±2.0ppm/year maximum for the first year, start-up time of 5.0 milli seconds maximum, rise/fall time of 10 nano seconds maximum and duty cycle (symmetry) of 50 per cent ±10 per cent typical with ±5 per cent available as an option.
MEC Europe is an approved supplier to the automotive industry with IATF16949 approval.
