DC/DC converters have DOSA-compliant footprint for slim design

For applications that require high power density and high efficiency, Dengrove Electronic Components stocks Recom’s RPM3.3 and RPM5.0 non-isolated DC/DC converters in power ratings from 3.3W to 30W.

The modules comply with the industry standard 12.19 x 12.19mm DOSA footprint and feature a control IC and multi-layer board design for a height of just 3.75mm. The 3.3V (RPM3.3) and 5.0V (RPM5.0) modules are available with rated output current of 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 or 6.0A. The construction results in what is claimed to be class-leading power density of up to 800W/in3 and allows the converters to be used in space-constrained applications.

High maximum efficiency of between 97 to 99 per cent, permits operation at full load in ambient temperatures up to 107 degrees C without forced-air cooling. This, says Dengrove, helps to simplify design and enhance system reliability. Packaged in a metal can and featuring a ground plane integrated in the bottom-side PCB, the RPM converters have effective six-sided shielding for minimal noise emissions and are EN 55032-compliant.

The converters also benefit from flexible control and trimming options. Pins for power-good, on-off control, and sequencing with programmable output rise time simplify powering-up converters simultaneously or in a pre-defined sequence. The nominal output voltage of 3.3 or 5.0V can be trimmed up or down using a single external resistor. Programmable soft-start control is also provided.

The RPM series DC/DC converters are available now as surface-mount modules with land grid array (LGA) contacts. Free samples are available from Dengrov which also stocks evaluation boards for the Recom RPM series.

Dengrove Electronic Components was established over 30 years ago.
