Digi-Key secures global distribution for Spark Microsystems’ comms devices
Low power wireless communications for personal area networks (PANs) and IoT devices from Spark Microsystems are now available from Digi-Key Electronics, following a global distribution agreement.
Spark Microsystems has patented technologies which it employs in its wideband wireless transceivers for wireless products, including the SR1000 UWB IC family (pictured).
The distributor is pleased with the signing. Vice president of global supplier management for Digi-Key, David Stein, said: “We know that our customers fuel the world’s innovation. They now have a flexible, low latency and more power-efficient wireless solution with Spark Microsystems’ game-changing products.”
The manufacturer is equally enthusiastic, with Tom Spade, chief revenue officer for Spark Microsystems, adding: “Spark Microsystems’ distribution partnership with Digi-Key allows us to engage the global market primed for the adoption of Spark Microsystems’ products.

The SPARK SR1000 UWB IC family features a data rate of up to 10Mbits per second at 1.5 nJ per bit. Power consumption is 2mW while transmitting, receiving at 1Mbits per second, scaling to six microW at 1kbits per second. It also has a short wireless latency pf 50 microseconds for 1kbit and a time of flight positioning accuracy of 300mm.
