DIN rail power supplies are for trackside and on-board rail use

Robust DIN rail power supplies for railway applications, both trackside and on-board train equipment, are available from PULS Power.

According to PULS, its railway range of power supplies provides 100 per cent greater mains failure bridging time than required by the railway standard EN 50155 (S2). They are also weather resistant; all PCBs have conformal coating as standard and are completely convection cooled to further increase reliability and minimise system noise.

All models have a nominal 110V DC input with a wide voltage fluctuation tolerance of -30 to +40 per cent and are available with an output voltage range from 24 to 28V DC with power ratings of 100, 200 and 400W. Depending on model operating temperature range is from -40 to +70 degrees C with no derating and typical efficiency is greater than 94 per cent.

The EN 50155-certified PULS DIN rail power supplies are classified according to T3, TX, C2 and S2 for use on rolling stock. They also meet EN 61373 for shock and vibration, EN 50121-3-2 for EMC requirements and EN 45545-2 for fire protection on a railway vehicle according to hazard level HL3.

The DIN rail power supplies offer system designers and installers’ uncomplicated assembly and allows for flexible positioning of the devices, says PULS. Optional wall and side mounting brackets offer alternative mounting options, while spring-clamp terminals provide shock and vibration resistance, make installation intuitive and enable tool-less, simple wiring.

The DIN rail power supplies can be upgraded easily, adds the company, in the event of a system change.
