Diode package improves thermal performance, says Vishay Intertechnology
Small signal Schottky and switching diodes are available in a compact DFN1006-2A package with wettable flanks from Vishay Intertechnology. The DAS40L Schottky and BAS16L switching diodes are available in AEC-Q101-qualified versions.
The 40V BAS40L and 100V BAS16L surface-mount small signal diodes are designed to save space and improve thermal performance in automotive and industrial applications.
They measure just 1.0 x 0.6x 0.45mm, which means they occupy 90 per cent less board space than devices in traditional small outline diode / small outline transistor (SOD / SOT) packages while offering a 50 per cent lower profile and better power dissipation, according to Vishay. For protection again excessive voltage, such as electrostatic discharges, the BAS40L features a PN junction guard ring.
The BAS40L and BAS16L offer a moisture sensitivity level (MSL) of 1 in accordance with J-STD-020 and a UL 94 V-0 flammability rating. The diodes are RoHS-compliant and halogen-free. They also support automated optical inspection (AOI) for automotive systems. Soldering can be checked by standard vision inspection; no X-ray is required.
The AEC-Q101-qualified BAS16L-HG308 and BAS40L-HG3-08, as well as the BAS16L-G308 and BAS40L-G308 are available in sample and production quantities now. Lead times are 12 weeks for large orders, advises Vishay.
Vishay claims to manufacture one of the world’s largest portfolios of discrete semiconductors and passive electronic components that are essential to innovative designs in the automotive, industrial, computing, consumer, telecommunications, military, aerospace, and medical markets.
