Distrelec stocks MXO 4 series scope by Rohde & Schwarz

Distributor, Distrelec is now stocking the Rohde & Schwarz MXO 4 series oscilloscope which is believed to be the first to offer a real time update rate of 4.5 million waveforms per second. This characteristic enables engineers to see more infrequent events than is possible with any other instrument, said Distrelec, adding that users can not only capture more signals but also measure them more accurately.

The R&S MXO 4 series is the first of a new generation of oscilloscopes with 12-bit ADC at all sample rates. The instruments’ 12-bit vertical resolution (18-bits with HD) delivers 16 times the resolution of traditional eight-bit oscilloscopes without any compromising on measurement precision. Users can see sharper waveforms with signal details that would otherwise be masked by noise. The oscilloscopes are also claimed to have the industry’s lowest system measurement noise of 22 micrV AC (RMS) at 1mV per division.

There are five models in the MXO 4 series with bandwidth of 200MHz to 1.5GHz. They are claimed to have the industry’s deepest standard acquisition memory of 400Mpoints on all four channels and an optional 800Mpoints interleaved.

The scopes also feature the MXO-EP (extreme performance) ASIC which processes 200Gbit per second. The R&S MXO 4 has up to 100 times the standard memory of comparable instruments and the memory controller in the MXO-EP is designed to ensure the oscilloscope stays responsive with deep memory.

Other features that distinguish the R&S MXO 4 series of oscilloscopes is what is claimed to be the fastest trigger rearm time on the market of 21 nanoseconds, a trigger jitter of less than 1ps and what is believed to be the most sensitive trigger in the industry of 1/10,000 vertical division (users can apply digital filters to suppress noise to get the most precise triggering available). The sample rate is up to 5Gsample per second, enabling the scope to capture up to 80 milliseconds of power up or power down sequences with the highest sample resolution of 200ps.

The R&S MXO 4 is also equipped with the fastest and most accurate spectrum analysis function in its class, said Distrelec, and what it describes as industry-leading dual-path protocol analysis. The scope has a spectrum acquisition rate of 45,000 FFT per second, which enables spurious spectrum events to be captured, especially during EMI debugging.

The scopes have also been made easy to use within 15 minutes via an intuitive user interface and R&S SmartGrid on a 13.3 inch, full HD capacitive touchscreen.
