Embedded PC targets AIoT and is certified for rail use
Railway and rolling stock applications are expected to exploit the artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities of the MXM (mobile PCI Express module) graphics processing unit (GPU) -based RC300-CS PC. The fanless embedded PC system is certified to EN50155 for electronics, EN45545 for fire and EN61373 for shock and vibration. It is available from Impulse Embedded.
AI has become more prevalent in industrial applications due to its ability to work 24/7 improving operational processes, reducing overheads, and increasing workplace safety. The international railway industry has also begun to adopt AI for autonomous driving and driver assistance, intrusion detection, predictive maintenance, crowd management and other surveillance or security applications.
The RC300-CS uses an Intel 9th generation desktop Core i7-9700TE processor and can be equipped with an Nvidia GeForce / Quadro MXM adapter. The adapter allows the installation of some of the latest MXM graphics modules such as the RTX 2080 and Quadro RTX5000, offering powerful inference capabilities at the edge, said Impulse Embedded. The Core i7-9700TE is a 35W TDP (thermal dynamic performance) octa-core processor with no hyperthreading and a 3.80GHz max turbo boost, supporting 64Gbyte of DDR4 2666 via two SO-DIMM slots. For storage, there is an M.2 2280 M-key and four swappable 2.5-inch 7mm SSD storage bays with external access and locks.
The RC300-CS has three SIM slots, one half-size mini PCIe for Wi-Fi Bluetooth modules, two full-size mini PCIe with PCIe and USB signals, and an M.2 3042 / 3052 B-key for 5G cellular expansion. There are seven antenna breakouts around the box, allowing the user to set up multiple cellular connections for redundancy. In addition to the wireless expansion options, there are four serial ports, 8-bit isolated digital inputs, 8-bit isolated digital outputs, two Gigabit Ethernet ports, and four USB3.0 ports.
Impulse can help customers design and configure the RC300-CS with the required memory, peripherals, storage and operating system in the company’s UK-based engineering facility.
Impulse Embedded’s Industrial Computing capabilities can be called upon to create reliable, repeatable and revision controlled systems time and time again, aimed at reducing customer’s overall project costs and development time. Their team of in-house engineers and specialists can offer customers fully deployable industrial computing solutions straight out of the box.
