Fanless box PC meets extended EMI and EMS requirements

Two Kuber series fanless box PCs are the initial offerings in the series, says Portwell. The industrial PC and embedded computing specialist has designed the Kuber series to meet extended EMI and EMS requirements in demanding applications.

The Kuber-2110 and Kuber-212E are compact-sized, fan-less embedded systems and feature the latest 14nm Intel Celeron N3350 processor (codenamed Apollo Lake).

The Kuber series is packaged in a rugged, fan-less case and features the latest Intel Intel Celeron processor N3350 with 4Gbyte (LPDDR4 2400) memory. The series has approximately 30 per cent more computing power and 45 per cent more graphics performance compared to the previous generation and offers powerful Intel Gen9 graphics, with up to 18 execution units and allowing the connection of 4k displays via displayPort.

The fan-less Kuber series operates with a thermal design power (TDP) below 10W (depending on the version) and supports 12 to 30V DC ±20 per cent power consumption for demanding applications.

For local data acquisition, the Kuber series offers industrial interfaces such as two Gbit industrial Ethernet (Intel i210), two USB 3.0 32Gbyte integrated eMMC storage (optionally up to 256Gbyte) for operating system, application software and data. There is also a M.2 Key-E, 2230 for wi-fi connection.

The Kuber-2110 is a compact (99 x 46 x 92mm) and is intended for use in harsh industrial automation applications, the factory automation, and an IoT gateway.

The Kuber-212E industrial computer measures 99 x 63 x 92mm and offers the same basic feature set of the Kuber series and two COM-ports, one RS-232 and one BIOS configurable RS-232/422/485. Portwell also offers an additional M.2 Key B 2242 and one Mini PCIe slot.

For use in harsh environments, the Kuber series meets the requirements of EN 61000- 6-4 (EMI) and EN 61000-6-2 (EMS) and the EMS standards IEC 61000-4-4, 4-6, 4-8, which contain extended EFT, CS and PFMF criteria, compared to the general industry standard (EN 61000-6-1). The box PCs can be used in plant networking, process monitoring, environmental management and process visualisation.

Operating systems are Windows 10 IoT Enterprise and Yocto Linux, with eAPI combined with sget’s UIC (Universal IoT Connector) and Microsoft Azure.
