Farnell adds Advanced Energy’s Excelsys power supplies

Low voltage, modular power supplies in the Excelys range are claimed to simplify system integration. The power supplies enable rapid design of critical applications, says Farnell, an Avnet company, which now stock the modular and configurable power supplies.

The high power density supplies can be designed into medical equipment including clinical diagnostic and dialysis equipment, medical lasers, radiological imaging and clinical chemistry. They can also be used for test and measurement, industrial machines, automation and audio equipment, printing and telecommunications. The convection-cooled models which do not require fan cooling are available to suit acoustically sensitive laboratory and medical environments as well as broadcast, radar and communication applications, advises Farnell.

Available for fast delivery from Farnell, the range includes the UltiMod series of UX4 and UX6 AC/DC modular power supplies and have efficiency (up to 91 per cent) and low acoustic noise in a single, low-cost package, says the distributor. The UX4 delivers up to 600W and can be populated with up to four powerMods. The UX6 delivers up to 1200W and can be populated with up to six powerMods. No minimum load is required.

The CS1000 series is in the fanless range of power supplies. The single output power supply delivers a convection-cooled 1000W in an open frame U-channel form factor. It eliminates acoustic noise in scientific and medical applications and applications that are sensitive to vibration or where fan cooling is not available.

For medical applications, the Xsolo series delivers a convection-cooled 504W in an open frame U-channel form factor and up to 1008W in an enclosed, fan-cooled chassis.

The CoolX series of modular configurable power supplies are fanless at 600W and 1000W while the fan-cooled 1800W model is claimed to offer best in class power density.  The CoolX 600 is a natural convection-cooled 600W modular power supply in a compact package with no fan-assisted cooling. The CoolX1000 measures 259.5 x 164 x 40.6mm (10 x 6.5 inch x 1U) U-channel design and provides up to 1000W without requiring fan or baseplate cooling, eliminating acoustic noise and vibration.

The CoolX1800 is an intelligent modular power supply delivering 1800W in a compact 1U high package.
