Farnell offers Raspberry Pi RP2040 as standalone chip

The 2040 chip, built on Raspberry Pi-designed silicon and which is on the Raspberry Pi Pico development board, is now available from Farnell as a standalone chip.

The Raspberry Pi RP2040 microcontroller offers high performance for integer workloads, a large on-chip memory, and a wide range of I/O options, explains Farnell, an Avnet company.

The Raspberry Pi Pico has two Arm Cortex-M0+ cores clocked at 133MHz, 264kbyte of on-chip SRAM, 30 multi-function general purpose I/O (GPIO) pins, and dedicated hardware for commonly used peripherals. There is also a programmable I/O subsystem for extended peripheral support, a four-channel ADC with internal temperature sensor and built-in USB 1.1 with host and device support.

Lee Turner, global head of Semiconductors and SBC at Farnell, said: “Customers can now use the Raspberry Pi Pico within their design phase and shift to the RP2040 in production, giving ultimate flexibility and opportunity for design engineers.”

Farnell is the longest standing Raspberry Pi partner and has sold more than 15 million units to date. Farnell stocks the complete range of Raspberry Pi SBCs including the Raspberry Pi Pico, enabling customers to build a wide range of devices for home, professional, education or commercial use.

Farnell also offers customers 24/5 technical support alongside free access to valuable online resources on the Farnell website, and engineering and maker community, element14.

The Raspberry Pi 2040 is available now from Farnell in EMEA, Newark in North America and element14 in Asia Pacific.

Farnell has over 80 years’ experience in the high service distribution of technology products and solutions for electronic system design, production, maintenance and repair.
