Farnell signs distribution agreement with IGS for LED modules

LED modules which can be used as standalone products or integrated into OEM applications which require visible white, coloured, infra-red or ultraviolet light from Intelligent Group Solutions (IGS) are now available from Farnell, following a distribution agreement.

Farnell customers can access the latest optoelectronic products and LED lighting components from Intelligent LED Solutions (ILS), a division of IGS.

The majority of LED modules feature an aluminium substrate for optimal thermal management and may be used in a wide variety of applications.

Among the LED portfolio available from Farnell, an Avnet company is the OSLON UV 3636 1 LEDiL selector board which allows design engineers developing lighting systems with the OSLON UV 3636 LED from OSRAM Opto Semiconductors to select associated products. The selector board works with various silicone optics from LEDiL and features push-in connectors and has predrilled heatsink mounting holes. The compact OSLON UV 3636 LED is designed for equipment illumination, UV-C air disinfection, UV-C surface disinfection, UV-C water disinfection as well as smoke, dust and particle sensing applications.

Also available is the PowerStar OSLON Square which contains what is claimed to be one of the world’s most compact 2W high power LEDs with low thermal resistance, high efficiency, reliability, and corrosion resistance. The LED has a 120 degree viewing angle, with an improved radiation pattern due to an increase in the size of the silicon lens. It is suitable for general lighting, spot lighting, task lighting, decorative lighting, retail and entertainment lighting applications.

The OSLON Black 4 PowerStar IR has four IR LEDs and is suitable for applications requiring high power IR illumination in a compact space, such as surveillance systems, infrared illumination for cameras, machine vision applications, night vision light and driver assistance systems. OSLON Black Series LEDs from OSRAM Opto Semiconductors are claimed to be the smallest IR LEDs providing more than 1W of optical power.

Lee Turner, global head of semiconductors and SBC at Farnell, said: “We are very pleased to announce our new partnership with IGS and the expansion of our portfolio . . . ILS is quick to market with new LED solutions that integrate cutting-edge products from some of the world’s most trusted global manufacturers. The ILS product range can be easily incorporated into our customers’ products or be used to support design activity of the featured LED.”

ILS is one of four divisions of IGS, a specialist company focusing on providing optoelectronic components, sub-assemblies and finished products. ILS was formed in response to demand from customers and suppliers requiring specialist products and services in the fast-growing LED sector.

The range of LED modules from ILS is now available from Farnell in EMEA and element14 in APAC.
