Farnell stocks Aim-TTi’s SMU4000 source measurement units

Compact source measurement units from Aim-TTi, making up the SMU4000 series, feature the company’s four-quadrant PowerFlex technology. The SMUs are available from Farnell.

The SMU4000 series provides high current and power output combined with fast measurements and low glitch auto ranging measuring speed, said Aim-TTi. It is suitable for industrial product development and educational environments, battery charging/discharging applications, I-V characterising and semiconductor testing.

The SMU4000 source measurement units have touchscreen control coupled with an intuitive graphical user interface (GUI). There are eight pre-set options enable instant use of the SMU in its simplest form. This includes settings for power supply, current source, load, voltmeter, ammeter, ohmmeter, insulation resistance meter and leakage current meter.

The agile, high power four-quadrant voltage / current source features precise meters measuring 0.1 microV and 100fA at 6.5-digit resolution. It also provides internal memory up to 100k measurements at up to 100k steps in a compact half-rack 2U casing. The SMU4000 can supply precise positive and negative voltages plus sourcing or sinking power while simultaneously measuring current and voltage for I-V characterising, advised Aim-TTi.

Aim-TTi’s PowerFlex technology ensures flexibility across a range of high and low voltage requirements. The SMU Link function can be used to connect two SMUs to perform simultaneously via a handshake triggering system, effectively creating a fully functioning two-channel SMU. This can be useful when testing three-leaded components such as small signal bi-polar junction transistors (BJTs) or FETs.

High precision DC, pulsed source and measurement capabilities have a built-in sweep setting that supports standard sweep parameters. This includes constant and pulsed sweep operation, double sweep functions and linear and logarithmic modes that are fully functional from the front panel. Arbitrary list sweeps of up to 100k points can be directly uploaded to the instrument via a flash drive or Test Bridge SMU software.

Two models offering a maximum 21V 3.0A or 210V 3.0A are now available for fast delivery from Farnell.

Farnell trades as Farnell in Europe; Newark in North America; and element14 throughout Asia Pacific and sells direct to consumers through a network of resellers and its CPC business in the UK.

Farnell is a business unit of Avnet.
