Flex Power Modules extends PKB-D series with 240W DC/DC converter

Isolated eighth brick DC/DC converters in the PKB-D series now include the PKB5213D. The latest model in the Flex Power Modules’ family has a wide input range of 18 to 60V, including 24 and 48V nominal inputs, and a fully regulated 12V output rated at 20A / 240W.

Isolation is 2,250V DC input to output, and the PKB5213D is safety-rated according to IEC/EN/UL 62368-1.

The DC/DC converter is designed for power-dense applications in challenging environments such as robotics, advised Flex Power Modules. The thermally-optimised PKB5213D achieves 94.6 per cent efficiency at 24V input and 50 per cent load and has an MTBF figure of 10.6 million hours at 40 degrees C, according to Telcordia SR-332. Maximum hot spot operating temperature is 125 degrees C. An optional baseplate is available for conduction cooled applications.

The PKB5213D is protected with an input under-voltage lockout, output over-voltage, short circuit and current limit as well as over-temperature protection. Output rise is monotonic and the DC/DC converter is able to start into pre-biased loads with a remote control also available.

Flex Power Modules manufactures scalable DC/DC power converters primarily serving the data processing, communications, industrial and transportation markets. Offering a wide range of both isolated and non-isolated solutions, its digitally-enabled DC/DC converters include PMBus-compatibility supported by the Flex Power Designer.
