Handheld field measurement meters test networks in the field

IoT network operators and service providers can realise faster time-to-revenue, says Keysight Technologies. The company has expanded the company’s handheld field measurement solutions with the new Nemo IoT meter and Nemo Handy IoT tester. The instruments enable network operators and service providers to actively test networks in the field, ensuring the coverage and service quality of networks in mission-critical and consumer-based IoT applications, accelerating installations, and speeding time-to-revenue.

“The availability of LTE network coverage does not necessarily mean that an IoT service is up and running smoothly in specific customer locations,” said Kai Ojala, head of Nemo measurement solutions at Keysight Technologies. Active field measurements can validate that networks meet set requirements and that reliable IoT services are offered to end customers for IoT applications and onsite installations, he continued.

Nemo IoT Meter is a handheld measurement tool for verifying IoT service quality at customers’ premises. It runs on a regular Android-based smartphone and is connected through a narrowband (NB) -IoT or LTE-M dongle. With Nemo IoT Meter, it is possible to check IoT network coverage and connection quality, and create an intelligible report of the performed measurements.

Nemo Handy IoT is a professional handheld field test instrument that provides operators with in-depth information on their IoT network’s key performance indicators (KPIs). Specific KPIs measured include coverage, quality, and detailed log files from active field testing. All results can easily be exported for further post-processing with analytics tools like Keysight’s Nemo Analyze and Nemo WindCatcher.

Keysight offers a full portfolio of Nemo-branded field measurement solutions for NB-IoT and LTE-M quality assurance. In addition to Nemo IoT Meter and Nemo Handy IoT, the portfolio features Nemo Outdoor for advanced field testing.

Keysight Technologies says it helps its engineering, enterprise and service provider customers optimise networks and bring electronic products to market faster and at a lower cost. Products go where the electronic signal goes, from design simulation, to prototype validation, to manufacturing test, to optimisation in networks and cloud environments. Customers span the worldwide communications ecosystem, aerospace and defence, automotive, energy, semiconductor and general electronics end markets.
