Harwin adds contact layout options for Gecko-MT hi-rel connectors

New variants have been added to the Gecko-MT high-reliability connectors by Harwin. The company has added a total of 72 addition Gecko-MT connector variants, offering more data / power combinations available off-the-shelf. They join the existing symmetrical two-power / eight signal and four-power / eight signal layouts.

Harwin has added six contact arrangements that feature two to six power contacts and four to 24 signal contacts. These have a non-symmetrical structure, with the power contacts situated at one end and the data contacts at the other. The power contacts have a 10A current rating, and the signal contacts are rated for 2.8A (maximum).

There is a range of hardware fixings are available for each contact layout. Both male and female connectors can be supplied in either standard gender or reverse fix. There are front and rear panel mount options, together with board-mount fixings to reduce any strain placed on solder joints

As with all the Gecko connectors in Harwin’s HRi (Hi-rel) group of products, the new additions have high resilience to shock and vibration, together with compact size and lightweight construction. They support a -65 to +150 degrees C operating temperature range, and 1,000 (minimum) mating cycle durability.

Evaluation samples are available on request.

The Gecko-MT range takes care of power and signal delivery to reduce component count and save PCB real estate, said Ryan Smart, head of product management at Harwin. The Gecko-MT range is used by customers in the aviation, space and high-end industrial markets and now the company offers a wider choice of power and signal configurations, fitted with Harwin’s locking mechanism variations.

All Gecko-MT connectors can be rapidly shipped from stock. The company also provides a cable assembly service on all Gecko connectors – supplying ready-made, full inspected harnesses.
