High-speed connector bridges data networking models
Yamaichi Electronics has unveiled the SFP28 host connector, designed for server and switch applications to achieve a data transmission rate of 56Gbits per second PAM-4 modulation per single channel.
The connector for data networking optical transceivers is fully compliant with the SFF-8084 and SFF-8402 standards as an interface connector to plug in a 0.8mm pitch card edge connector. It is mechanically compatible with other generations of SFP connectors such as 10 and 16Gbits per second models. It can be used as a replacement in older card edge SFP modules, as it has the same footprint, says Yamaichi.
The SFP28 host connector has 20 pins, with gold-plated contacts (0.76 micron minimum thickness). This makes the connector reliable for high-speed transmission, notes Yamaichi. It is also designed for SMT mounting. The contact pitch is 0.8mm and the mating cycle is 100 times.
Yamaichi Electronics specialises in test and burn-in sockets, connectors and connection systems.
