IAR Embedded Workbench supports STM32 MCU series

Developers of cost-sensitive applications can migrate eight- or 16-bit MCUs to the new entry-level 32-bit STM32 MCU series using the IAR Embedded Workbench for Arm. IAR is an ST Authorized Partner and has partnered with the semiconductor company to support the new STM32C0 low-cost 32bit microcontrollers.

The IAR Embedded Workbench for Arm has powerful capacities for building an optimised and compact code and extensive debugging and analysis possibilities and the two companies said they are lowering the hurdle for embedded developers working with eight- or 16-bit MCUs to move to competitively priced 32-bit devices

The IAR Embedded Workbench for Arm has integrated static and runtime code analysis tools to provide high code quality with long term maintainability and portability of the embedded software.

The STM32C0, described as ST’s most affordable 32-bit MCU series, is targeted at applications like home appliances, industrial pumps, fans, and smoke detectors, typically served by simpler eight-bit and 16-bit MCUs. The 32-bit STM32C0 allows improvements such as faster response, extra functions, and network connection at similar overall cost and power consumption, said IAR. The microcontrollers allow easy migration into the STM32G0 series to tackle more demanding projects, by virtue of a consistent pinout. IAR facilitates the application software migration in the same and professional IDE (integrated development environment).

All IAR software resources available for the STM32C0 series, like the STM32CubeMX configuration tool, Microsoft Azure RTOS, and the STM32CubeC0 MCU package, are fully compatible and tested with IAR Development Solutions. IAR Embedded Workbench supports the STM32C0 Nucleo-64 (Nucleo-C031C6) low-cost development board and two STM32C0 Discovery Kits (STM32C0116-DK and STM32C0316-DK).

The STM32C0 series is supported since the last update v9.32 of IAR Embedded Workbench for Arm..
