I’M Intelligent Memory doubles DDR3 capacity to 16Gbits

Hong Kong-based fabless DRAM manufacturer, I’M Intelligent Memory, has doubled the maximum DDR3 memory capacity to 16Gbits. Six years ago it doubled the conventional memory of 4Gbit by offering 8Gbit DDR3 devices. Now, the 16Gbit devices support DDR3L low-voltage (1.35V) operation and are backwards-compatible to standard DDR3 1.5V operation.

They are available in different speed grades from 1333M transfers (MT) per second to 1866MT per second, and in commercial and industrial temperature ranges.

The 16Gbit parts are compatible to JEDEC specification JESD79-3F for DDR3/DDR3L, internally operating in two ranks of 8Gbit, requiring a board layout with support for two sets of control-lines (CS, CKE, ODT, ZQ) for each DRAM.

Dimensions are 9.0 x 13mm for the FBGA96 package, small enough to fit on a majority of existing layouts, says Intelligent Memory.

Customer samples are ready to ship in an x16 configuration with FBGA 96 ball package now. A 78 ball FBGA version in x8 configuration is expected to follow, dependent on demand.

I’M Intelligent Memory supplies memory capacities for DDR3 from 1Gbit over 8Gbit up to the technical maximum of 16Gbit per component.

Free samples and quotes can be requested from I’M Intelligent Memory’s distribution-partner Memphis Electronic serving customers from 16 locations around the world.

Intelligent Memory is a fabless manufacturer making DRAM and flash memory products.
