Industrial-grade Mini-ITX SBC exploits Coffee Lake CPU for 4k video systems

The latest addition to BVM’s portfolio of industrial grade Mini-ITX embedded single board computers (SBCs) is the LV-67W, which is based on Intel’s eighth generation, 14nm Coffee Lake H series Core i7/i5/i3 processors in the FCBGA1440 socket.

The i5 and i7 versions feature six-core processors, offering 12 threads for applications such as digital signage, retail transaction terminals kiosks, smart cities and health care where high performance processing and graphics are required, explains BVM. The Coffee Lake processors are based on the QM70 chipset, and are claimed to offer higher CPU and graphics performance than the previous seventh generation with a thermal design power (TDP) rating of just 45W. Up to 32Gbytes of DDR4 memory can be fitted.

The integrated ultra high definition (UHD) graphics supports three independent displays with 4k resolution each, and is supplied with hardware-based video encoding and decoding up to 4k. The LV-67W has VGA, LVDS, DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort outputs for use in imaging, machine vision, infotainment, medical and gaming machines.

For high speed data transfer, there are six native USB 3.1 Gen2 (10Gbits per second) ports, three SATAIII mass storage interfaces, two Gigabit LAN ports and six serial ports. There are also Realtek high definition audio, two eight-bit GPIO ports, two Mini PCIe, one supporting mSATA, a SIM slot and a PCIe X16 port. The LV-67W operates from 9.0 to 35V DC or an external ATX power supply.

BVM Limited was established in 1989 as a designer, manufacturer and distributor of industrial and commercial computer products for OEMs and systems integrators. The Southampton-based company supplies components, sub-assemblies and own-brand products to a broad customer base in many different industries around the world, both directly and via local distributors.

BVM has also invested to ensure full support for system software. Specialist areas include Windows XP Embedded (XPE & FES) and Windows Embedded Standard 7 (WES7) with many custom ports supplied, installed and operating in live customer environments.
