Industrial power supply is versatile for TM, AM and RF

The TPS4000-24 power supply, introduced by TDK-Lambda, is rated at up to 4,080W at 24V. The TPS series can operate automatically from 400, 440, and 480V AC nominal delta or WYE inputs, without wiring changes or the need for large, costly step-down transformers, advises the company.

The industrial grade power supply is suitable for a wide range of applications including test and measurement (TM) equipment, semiconductor fabrication, additive manufacturing (AM), printers, laser cutting and RF power amplifiers.

The TPS4000 has output voltage and current programming, warning signals, configurable remote on/off, a 12V 0.3A standby voltage and a PMBus interface. The communications function allows remote monitoring of the output voltage, output current, internal temperature, status signals and fan speed. The output voltage, over current limit and the remote on/off are programmable via the PMBus. The output voltage is adjustable from 19.2 to 28.5V and the current limit point by 70 to 105 per cent using front panel potentiometers or an analogue 0 to 5V DC voltage. An internal ORing FET simplifies the parallel operation of up to eight units for redundant or higher power requirements.

Excluding the output busbars, the unit measures 107 x 84.4 x 335mm, making it suitable for 2U high racking systems. It weighs just 4kg and has a typical efficiency of 92 per cent.

The TPS can start up at -40 degrees C, operate at full load in ambient temperatures of -10 to +50 degrees C and deliver 55 per cent load at 70 degrees C.

A variable speed, temperature controlled fan reduces acoustical noise and the ingress of containments. The power supply has 3kV AC input to output, 2kV AC input to ground and 500V DC output to ground isolation.

The TPS is covered by a three-year warranty and certified to IEC/EN/UL 60950-1 (62368-1 pending). It is CE marked to the Low Voltage, EMC and RoHS Directives. The TPS4000 also complies with EN55032-A EMI, SEMI F47-0706, IEC 61000-3-2, IEC 61000-4 and is designed to meet the MIL‑STD‑461F/G CS101, CS114 (Army Ground), CS115, CS116 immunity standard.
