Infineon adds to CoolMOS for high power density designs

The PFD7 switch product family has been added to Infineon Technologies’ CoolMOS series. They are intended for ultra high power density designs such as chargers and adapters as well as for low-power drives and specific lighting applications.

They have been designed to support trends for small, light mobile products and energy saving in home appliances. They are optimised for high efficiency, especially at light-load conditions and still able to fulfill EMI requirements, says Infineon.

The switches offer best-in-class figures-of-merit RDS(on) x Q RR. The integrated fast body diode contributes to commutation ruggedness and the Zener diode supports electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection up to 2kV. The switches range in RDS (on) values from 125 to 2,000mΩ.

The CoolMOS PFD7 series is now available.

Infineon specialises in semiconductor that make life easier, safer and greener. The German company is organised into four segments. The Automotive division produces semiconductors which are essential to realising key trends like electro-mobility, automated driving and secure, connected cars. Infineon partners with others, based on system knowledge and a passion for innovation. It describes itself as a key driver in the ever-advancing pace of digitalization in the automotive industry. Semiconductors for mobility enable clean, safe and smart cars through safety applications, Powertrain, hybrid electric and electric vehicle products/

Infineon’s Industrial Power Control sector shows the crucial role power semiconductors play in increasing efficiency and reducing energy losses along the whole energy conversion chain.

As a leader in power semiconductors, Infineon delivers leading products and solutions for smart and efficient energy generation, transmission and consumption. Products include solar energy systems, power supplies, industrial power drives and home appliances.

Infineon’s Power Management and Multimarket division produces semiconductors which play a vital role in enabling intelligent power management, smart sensitivity as well as fast and reliable data processing in an increasingly digitalised world.

Infineon’s leading-edge power devices make chargers, adapters, power tools and lighting systems smarter, smaller, lighter and more energy-efficient. Its sensors increase the context sensitivity of “things” and systems such as human machine interface (HMI) and its RF chips power fast and reliable data communication.

The company drives power management, sensing and data transfer capabilities with a portfolio of automation, consumer, industrial, power supplies and mobile devices.
