Input quarter-brick DC/DC converters on track for railways

The latest additions to Recom’s railway portfolio are two 40W and 60W DC/DC converter series in quarter-brick packages with an ultra-wide input voltage range from 14 to 160VDC, offering a solution for railway rolling stock applications and high voltage battery systems.

The 12:1 input voltage range of Recom’s RP40Q-RUW and RP60Q-RUW series covers all input voltages from nominal 24VDC up to 110VDC in one product (including EN50155 transients).

These quarter-brick DC/DC converters offer basic isolation with regulated 5V, 12V, 15V, 24V or 48VDC outputs, including sense and trim pins.

They have a consistently high efficiency over the input voltage range and an operating temperature range from -40 degrees C to +85 degrees C (+68 degrees C for the RP60Q-RUW) at full load without forced air cooling. An optional heat sink allows these converters to provide full load up to +90 degrees C and +77 degrees C respectively.

The case is fitted with threaded inserts for secure mounting in high shock and vibration environments. The converters are CE marked, EN50155 and EN45545-2 certified and come with a three-year warranty.

Samples and OEM pricing are available from all authorised distributors or directly from Recom.

Recom supplies a full range of DC/DC and AC/DC converters in every power class up to 960W, alongside switching regulators and LED drivers in a wide selection of designs, all available via a worldwide distribution network..

The company’s headquarters in Gmunden, Austria, includes a state-of-the-art logistics centre and laboratory wing.
