Integrated backshells save weight and space, says Nicomatic
Micro connectors for space-constrained mil-aero, military aircraft, missile and radar systems make up the DBMM series. They are designed with integrated backshells to save space and weight, to be lightweight, says Nicomatic, with 360 degree EMI shielding and mechanical protection.
The hi-rel connectors are rugged; they conform to MIL-DTL-83513G performance specifications and allow a wider choice of contact arrangements compared to other mil-spec connectors such as Micro-D or Sub-D, says the company. Contacts can be signal (LF), power (HP) and coax (HF), with hundreds of thousands of combinations possible, according to Nicomatic. The DBMM series of micro connectors are part of the company’s standard range and were developed following requests for custom interconnects based on the performance parameters of Nicomatic’s DMM Series.
The DBMM range measures only 15mm in depth, whereas a standard backshell plus separate DMM connector measures 35mm in depth or above, reports the company. The compact form factor is lightweight and easy to handle. In addition to ease of handling, the DBMM range has cost advantages compared to DMM connectors with separate mono or split backshells.
There are two models available in the DBMM series, namely the DBMM220 with four to 32 signal, power or coax contacts, and the DBMM320 which offers between six and 48, power or coax contacts. Both models are available for straight to cable fix in either male or female orientation with D53B jackscrews.
