Knowles persists with Voltronics half turn trimmer capacitors for the medical industry
While new and evolving markets, such as automotive, defence, mobile, industrial, and the IoT create surges in demand for passive components, some manufacturers are ceasing production of their more mature lines or slimming down ranges in favour of newer and more profitable products. Knowles Precision Devices has made it clear that it will continue to support customers in the medical devices industry, with the Voltronics brand of non-magnetic trimmer products.
The offering includes the J series of half turn trimmer capacitors. This range of high Q, half turn trimmer capacitors has been offered by Voltronics for over 20 years. According to the company, it delivers uncompromising stability for even the most demanding applications, including RFID, medical devices, cellular technologies and tunable filter circuits. They are available in standard and high voltage (HV) ranges, and offer up to 50pF and a working voltage of 350V DC.
Although a trimmer capacitor may be more expensive than a fixed-value capacitor, it is often cost-comparable to the closest tolerance MLCC; in addition, it will provide greater flexibility, notes Knowles. Voltronics’ J series, half-turn trimmer capacitors can be used for surface-mount variable capacitor requirements.
The JZ series features the lowest magnetic content making the capacitors particularly suitable for MRI applications. They are also available in an HV version, providing working voltage up to 350 VDC with dielectric withstand voltage (DWV) of 700V DC in addition to an extended maximum capacitance of 50pF.
The JR series offer most of the range of capacitance available in the JZ series but in a more compact package size.
Both ranges are pick-and-place compatible and feature a dust-proof and solvent-resistant design.
