Lane Electronics adds Positronic MACH-D connectors for harsh environments
MACH-D connectors from Positronic are now available from Lane Electronics, the franchised distributor for electrical and electronic connector manufacturers.
Designed for use in electronic equipment operating in harsh environments, the D-sub connector has machined aluminium or stainless steel shells, which, the company claims, provide durability, precision, planarity and electromagnetic compatibility.
Standard MIL-DTL-24308-style D-sub miniature connectors are increasingly popular in harsh environment applications such as defence electronics, commercial aircraft, medical devices and deep space. Solid machined metal shells are the primary differentiator between MACH-D products and M24308 connectors, which are only available in stamped shells. MACH-D connectors are fully inter-mateable with standard M24308-type D-subs and in many cases outperform the minimum requirements as outlined in MIL-DTL-24308, said FC Lane. Additionally, MACH-Ds are performance-comparable and mechanically compatible with Glenair’s Series 28 HiPer-D connectors
The Positronic MACH-D connectors are available in standard and high density signal contact arrangements as well as hybrid versions, which combine power and signal in a single connector body. Custom options are available on request. MACH-D connectors accessory options include keyed jackscrews, rear silicone grommets, interfacial seals, EMI grounding strips, and a 360 degree banding feature which is useful when space limitations preclude the use of a full sized backshell.
