Lemo encourages pre-install with harpoon earthing pins

Lemo has introduced harpoon earthing pins to enable pre-installation of a selection of receptacles and sockets. The press-fit contacts are designed for elbow and straight PCB sockets.

The advantage of these new press-fit contacts is the time gained during pre-assembly. There is no need to place the washers nor to screw the M1.6 screws, advises Lemo. The engineers has to simply align the connector and push firmly.

This pre-assembly will enable the assembly house or final customer to turn the PCB board upside down and run the parts through the reflow soldering oven.

The harpoon earthing pins solution is intended for elbow and straight PCB sockets of 0B and 1B series connectors. The current design works specifically with 1.6mm thickness boards.

Lemo is based in Écublens, Switzerland and has a facility in West Sussex, UK. The electronic and fibre optic connector company is known for producing the push-pull connectors. Its range of connectors are used in medical, industrial, audio/visual, telecommunications, military, scientific research and measurement applications
