Low capacitance TVS protects USB3.2 and Thunderbolt 3.0
High-speed line protection is provided by the AOZ8661BDT-05 transient voltage suppressor (TVS) for USB Type-C applications, such as notebooks and mobile devices.
The AOZ8661BDT-05 uses Alpha and Omega Semiconductor’s Super Low Cap TVS platform.
Capacitance is low at just 0.15pF, optimising the AOZ8661BDT-05 for high-speed line protection including, but not limited to, USB3.1 Gen2, USB3.2, Thunderbolt 3.0. It also avoids the transmission error by minimising the capacitance effect, adds the company.
The AOZ8661BDT-05 TVS is housed in a 0.6 x 0.3mm leadless surface mounted device (SMD), designed to fit the small footprint requirement of a USB Type-C connector.
The TVS provides a better figure of merit (FOM) on the clamping voltage times capacitance, which, together with faster response during the ESD event, protect the ESD-sensitive chipset.
The AOZ8661BDT-05 is immediately available in production quantities with a lead-time of 16 weeks.
