Low current mmWave gain blocks use CML Microcircuits’ RFIC/MMIC technology

The latest additions to the SuRF family are the CMX90B701 / CMX90B702 low current mmWave gain blocks. They use CML Microcircuits’ RFIC / MMIC design capability and offering low current and low noise performance in the 17 to 23GHz and 23 to 29.5GHz ranges respectively.

The CMX90B701 and CMX90B702 low current / noise gain blocks offer an optimal balance between output power, linearity, and noise with a typical P1dB output figure of +7.5dBm, an IP3 output of +17.5dBm and a noise figure of 4dB. The low current devices have a dual-bias mode and can be set to operate at either 10mA or 15mA from a single positive supply rail ranging between 3.0 and 5.0V. The high maximum operating temperature of 105 degrees C enables them to be used in wireless infrastructure and compact transceiver applications.

Arwyn Roberts, RF product manager at CML Microcircuits, explained the input and output ports are matched to 50 Ohm and can be plugged into the RF system with minimal external components. He added that they have been designed to offer an optimal balance between low power consumption and performance.

They employ GaAs pHEMT technology and are suitable for applications such as 5G mmWave infrastructure, Ka-band satcom and microwave backhaul.

CML Microcircuits’ SµRF portfolio includes a range of power amplifiers, low noise amplifiers, gain blocks and front end modules are all based on GaAs and GaN technologies.

CML Microcircuits designs, develops and supplies low power analogue, digital and mixed-signal semiconductors for telecommunications systems globally.

The company’s portfolio of devices are used in an extensive range of industrial and commercial products for licensed and unlicensed wireless voice and data systems.

The company also offers bespoke solutions to customers. This service includes design assistance, advice and technical support.
